BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 24. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and FONPLATA, a South American Development Bank, are set to provide a joint report on socio-economic development in landlocked countries, Trend reports.
The focus of the report will include Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) and South American countries (Bolivia and Paraguay), according to the press service of the EDB.
This information was shared during a meeting between the representatives of EDB and FONPLATA at the headquarters of the South American bank in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
Oscar Llamosas, Vice President of FONPLATA for Strategic Development, emphasized during the meeting that the matter of connectivity is fundamentally important for both banks because it addresses regional integration to support the development of their member countries.
The discussions also covered institutional and managerial issues, challenges faced by both organizations, and financing strategies. The banks agreed to organize a knowledge-sharing seminar where the EDB will share its experience in participating in ESG ratings and FONPLATA will discuss its gender strategy.
Additionally, a decision was made to develop a roadmap for the joint development of financial instruments such as sustainable thematic funds and risk-sharing mechanisms. Both sides expressed interest in deepening collaboration to enhance the relevance of their work within and beyond their respective regions.
