Kazakh MPs to monitor presidential elections in Russia

On Thursday, a group of members of the Kazakh Majilis (parliament) headed for Moscow. The MPs will participate in the presidential elections in Russia as observers from the CIS, the press service of the Apparatus of the Kazakh Majilis said on Thursday.

MPs will monitor preparation and holding of presidential elections in Russia in a group of observers from the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Commonwealth of Independent States. In turn, the PA observers are part of the CIS observation mission.

This group includes first deputy head of the parliamentary faction of the Nur Otan Yergen Doshayev, Victor Rogalev, Mukhtar Tinikeev, who will work in Moscow, Roman Madinov - Omsk, Elena Tarasenko and Izbak Umurzakov - Orenburg.

Some 16,137 Russian citizens living in the Kazakh city of Baikonur take direct participation in the presidential campaign.

The MPs said they are planning to meet with members of different election commissions at all levels, polling stations, political parties, as well as directly with voters, they are also planning to take interest in questions of campaigning, warning citizens, organizations of duty and reception of citizens, monitoring of the implementation of electoral legislation, i.e. of what the electoral process is consists of.

Russian presidential election will be held on March 4.
