BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 6. By the end of 2025, 9 major investment projects in the field of the fishery industry will be carried out in Kazakhstan’s Atyrau region, with a total worth of 16.3 billion Kazakh tenge ($34.4 million), Serik Shapkenov, Akim of Atyrau region stated, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

“From January through November 2022, around 14,000 tons of fish were caught in the Caspian Sea, Ural and Kigach rivers. Of these, 13,200 tons were processed, and 12,700 tons of products were exported to the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Israel, and other countries” - Shapkenov added.

According to him, along with fishing, commercial fish farming is being developed in the region. He noted that 8 projects will be in the field of fish farming, and the remaining will be a fish processing shop.

According to Shapkenov, these projects will boost the volume of commercial fish farming from the current 78 tons to 15,000 tons, while the exports will rise from 12,700 tons to 25,000 tons.

The implementation of the projects will create additional 511 workplaces.
