Development Bank of Kazakhstan to fund major agro-industrial projects

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 21. Development Bank of Kazakhstan will finance projects in the field of agriculture in the amount of 1.2 trillion Kazakh tenge ($2.7 billion), Trend reports.

According to an official source, this was reported to the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, by the Chairman of the Management Board of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, Marat Yelibayev.

He stated that the bank, in cooperation with second-tier banks and other financial institutions, is ready to provide financing for the implementation of investment projects in the agro-industrial complex for the specified amount.

Furthermore, Yelibayev noted that at the moment, the bank has started considering new projects from domestic investors.

The Head of Government instructed the leadership of the APK to consider investment projects aimed at ensuring food security, import substitution, and increasing exports of domestic agricultural products as a matter of priority.

Meanwhile, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan already has experience implementing projects in the agro-industrial sector, including the construction of a meat and poultry farm in the Akmola region and the modernization of oilseed processing plants.

Also, with the financing of the bank, construction of the country's largest greenhouse complex has begun in the Turkistan region, the launch of the first stage of which is planned for next year.
