Foreign Ministry summoned Swiss ambassador to Tehran Livia Leu Agosti on Thursday and conveyed Islamic Republic of Iran's strong protest to violation of Iran's airspace by a US spy drone on December 4, IRNA reported.

Foreign Ministry also called for an immediate response by the US government and urged compensation for what US has done.

Stealth-version of the RQ-170 drone of the US on a CIA spy mission was detected by the Islamic Republic of Iran's armed forces over the eastern town of Kashmar, some 225 kilometers (140 miles) from the border with Afghanistan.

Iranian armed forces managed to down the US spy drone with minimum damage on Sunday, December 4, 2011.

Islamic Republic of Iran's Foreign Ministry said that what the US has done is sheer violation of all recognized international laws and regulations and hence the US government is solely responsible for such measures.

The Iranian government preserves the right of pursuing the violation of its airspace and similar measures and the US government is to blame for such actions.
