Iran's navy has sent ships through the Suez Canal for the second time since Iran's revolution, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quotes the country's naval commander, Habibollah Sayari as saying on Saturday.
In early February, ships from Iran's 18th battle group docked at the port city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
On Thursday, two Iranian ships passed through the Suez Canal to reach Tartus on Syria's east coast
Iran and Syria signed a naval training agreement last year.
Iran's passage through the Suez Canal was coordinated with Egypt's armed forces who are in charge of the country after Hosni Mubarak was overthrown last year.
