Rouhani says no one questioning Iran’s right for uranium enrichment

Baku, Azerbaijan, June 13

By Umid Niayesh - Trend:

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that no one in the world, even the western countries now, is questioning Iran's right for uranium enrichment.

He said that the biggest achievement in the nuclear talks is to admit Iran's uranium enrichment right.

Rouhani added that his administration is following safeguarding of Iranian people's rights including an access to the global markets, as well as nuclear rights.

He said that the P5+1 have accepted generalities of Iran's demands in nuclear talks. However, the sides are still negotiating over the details, Rouhani said, Iran's State IRINN TV reported June 13.

Iran has a serious attitude towards the negotiations and does not intend to waste time in talks, he said.

Rouhani added that if the counter side respects Iranian people's right and has a will, achieving a deal ahead the deadline is possible.

Iran and the P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) reached a nuclear framework agreement on April 2 in Lausanne that raised hopes for achieving a comprehensive nuclear deal by June 30.

The deal envisages removing of all international sanctions on Iran and in return narrowing the range of the country's nuclear activities.

While responding a question about the main challenge against achieving of a final deal, President Rouhani said that if the counter side does not include new topics into the negotiations, the agreement will be achievable.

He also accused the P5+1 of backing away from the earlier achieved framework in any new session of talks.

The Iranian president further said that his administration follows the constructive cooperation with global community to protect Iran's national interests.

He also said that the sanctions against Iran were not successful however were effective.

The sanctions affected all aspects of the Iranians' life, President Rouhani underlined.

President Rouhani also confirmed that sanctions will not be lifted immediately after the nuclear agreement is signed.

Once the sides achieved an agreement, a period will be required for the implementation of the agreement and lifting the sanctions, maybe a few months, he underlined.

He further said that Iran pursues to make the period as short as possible.

President Rouhani also defended the implementation of the Additional Protocol, explaining that the issue was misunderstood.

Many countries are implementing the protocol and Iran is not an exception, the president added.

He emphasized that Iran will not permit its military or even none-military secrets to be disclosed under the name of the Additional Protocol or any other agreement.

Rouhani rejected concerns about possible fail of implementing a final deal, while certain groups from the both sides are against that.

He said that Iran and the P5+1 have implemented an interim deal earlier which is a successful experience.
