Prices and situation in consumer market in Azerbaijan (January-November 2010)

In January-November 2010, a rise of the retail goods turnover got restored amid continuing rise of the community services and was 8.9%. The amount of retail goods turnover comprised 16.2bln. In particular, 74.3% accounted for retail trade, 25.7% - paid services.

In January-November 2010 the trading networks of Azerbaijan sold population consumer goods at 12033.6 million manat, which is 8.5% more than 2009. Legal entities provided 14.1% of turnover, fairs and markets - 40.4%, individual entrepreneurs - 44.7%.

In January-November 2010, every citizen of the country acquired consumer goods and paid services at 164.0 manat that is 13.5 percent higher than 2009. 

In January-November 2010 commercial services to population made up 4156.4 million manat, or up 10.4 percent. Individual entrepreneurs provided 72.5% of services, legal entities - 27.5%, with growth of 11.1% and 8.5% respectively.

Prices

In January-November, the prices for consumer goods and tariffs for services rose 1.8 percent compared with the previous month, and compared to January-November 2009 grew by 5.5 percent (data from State Statistics Committee).

The prices for food products in November rose 2.5 percent compared to October, non-food products rose 0.4 percent, and tariffs for service rose 0.9%. 

Compared with January-November 2009, food prices grew by 6.7 percent, non-food products - 2.2 percent, and tariffs for the service sector - 4.7 percent.

In November 2010, the base index of the consumer prices incurring seasonal changes (fruits and vegetable) and being regulated by the Government rose by 1.4% as compared to the previous month, and 3.3% to 2009.    

As compared to the previous month, in November 2010 the index of industrial goods price rose 2.7%, but rose 31.4% compared to the same period of the last year.

The price in oil and gas production increased 3.2 percent in November compared to previous month, but rose 38.8% in January-November compared to the same period of 2009. 

The prices in refining chemical products increased 2.0% in the month, but increased 9.6% at annualized pace.   

In November, the prices in metallurgy increased 0.7 percent compared to the previous month, but rose 32.4% at annualized pace. The prices for electricity, gas and water remained unchanged compared to previous month, and during the year.
