Public budget of Azerbaijan (January 2011)

The state budget income comprised 1211.5 million manat, or 48.5 percent of GDP in January 2011. This index increased by 48.5 percent, compared to the same period in 2010, the government said.

State budget expenditures increased by 37.5 percent and made up 382.9 million manat (11.1 percent of the GDP). The surpluses of the budget totaled 738.6 million manat, or 21.5 percent of GDP.

The Taxes Ministry remitted 50.8 percent of all income, or 569.6 million manat to the state budget. The State Customs Committee remitted 70.1 million manat (with a special weight of 6.3 percent) in taxes and duties to the public budget and other sources remitted 481.8 million manat (with a special weight of 42.9 percent).

During the report period, a total of 189.8 million manat was obtained from VAT, or 16.9 percent of all income, 297.8 million manat (26.6 percent) - profit taxes, 40.3 million manat (3.6 percent) - income taxes, 51.8 million manat (4.6 percent) - excise taxes, 4.4 million manat (0.4 percent) - property taxes, and 12.2 million manat (1.1 percent) -royalties, 0.4 million manat - land taxes, and 24 million manat (2.1 percent) -taxes from foreign economic activities.

The public budget expense for social security and provision of people comprised 144.8 million manat (with a weight of 37.8 percent), 21.1 million manat (5.5 percent) was spent on education, 4.8 million (1.3 percent) - health, 16.9 million (4.4 percent) - maintenance of prosecutor bodies, security and law-enforcement and court bodies, 31.1 million (8.1 percent)- investment allocations, 2.8 million (0.7 percent) - housing and communal services, 6.9 million ( 1.8 percent) - agriculture, fishing, 1.6 million (0.4 percent) - transport and communications, and 53.3 percent (204 million manat) of public expenses were spent on the payment of salaries, pension and allowances.
