Public budget of Azerbaijan (Jan.-May 2012)

In January-May 2012, the public budget income comprised 6.715.3 billion manat, or 32.2 percent of GDP. It increased by 39.2 percent from the last year.

Public budget expenses rose by 53.4 percent and made up 5.648.5 billon manat (27.1 percent of the GDP). The surpluses of the budget totaled 1.066.8 billion (5.1 percent of GDP).

In the revenue structure, 38.4 percent (2.58 billion manat) was provided by the Tax Ministry. Revenues from customs duties and taxes totaled 455 million manat (with weight of 6.8 percent) from other sources is 3.683.2 billion manat (54.8 percent).

Some 875.1 million manat was obtained from VAT, or 13 percent of all income, 1.064.6 billion manat (15.9 percent) - profit taxes, 307.7 million manat (4.6 percent) - income taxes, 202.1 million manat (3 percent) - excise taxes, 51.1 million manat (0.8 percent)- property taxes, 17.6 million manat (0.3 percent) - land taxes, 53.5 million manat (8 percent) - subsoil tax and 278.9 million manat (4.2 percent) -taxes from foreign economic activities.

The public budget expenses for social security and provision of people comprised 838.4 million manat (14.8 percent). 458.1 million manat (8.1 percent) was spent on education, 176.8 million (3.1 percent) - health, 305.8 million (5.4 percent) - maintenance of prosecutor bodies, security and law-enforcement and court bodies, 2.222.2 billion (39.3 percent)- investment allocations.

Some 99.3 million (1.8 percent) - housing and communal services, 139.8 million (2.5 percent) - agriculture, fishing and 23.5 billion manat (0.4 percent) transport and communications.

Some 25.3 percent (1.431.6 billion manat) of public expenditures have been spent on the payment of salaries, pensions and allowances.
