Prices and situation in consumer market in Azerbaijan (January-October 2015 )

According to the State Statistics Committee, as of November 1, 2015, the Azerbaijani consumer market amounted to 27.014 billion manat, which is 10 percent more than its turnover for the same period of 2014. The monthly consumer expenses are estimated at 283.8 manat per capita in January-October 2015 or by 32.9 manat more compared to January-October 2014.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the Azerbaijani trading networks sold consumer goods to the population at 20.393 billion manat in January-October 2015, which is 11.2 percent more than in the same period of 2014. Legal entities ensured 11 percent of trade turnover.

The food trade (9.251 billion manat) increased by 12.1 percent from year to year in January-October 2015, while retail sales of non-food items (10.225 billion manat) - by 13.4 percent.

The retail sale volume of non-food items was bigger than food trade.

Over this period, every citizen of the country acquired consumer goods at 214.2 manat per month, which is 28.5 manat more than in January-October 2014.

Paid services worth 5.779 billion manat were rendered to the population in January-October 2015 or 5.8 percent more compared to January-October 2014. Legal entities ensured 55 percent of this growth and rendered the services worth 4.252 billion manat.

Each citizen bought paid services worth 60.7 manat per month in January-October 2015 or 3.3 manat more than in January-October 2014. Transportation, public utilities and communication services prevail in the structure of paid services. Besides improving the material condition, great using of paid services by the population is associated with the fact that the structure of rendered paid services is being improved. A network of companies is being developed in this sector.

Prices

According to the State Statistics Committee, the prices on consumer goods and tariffs on services increased by 0.1 percent in October 2015 compared to September.

The food prices increased by 0.3 percent, non-food items - by 0.1 percent, tariffs for services remained unchanged in September (compared to the previous month).

The prices on mutton, lemons, apples, pears, grapes, quinces, pomegranates, walnuts and hazelnuts, chestnuts, cabbages, cucumbers, greens, pumpkins, green beans, beets, carrots decreased in Azerbaijan during a month.

The prices on rice, flour, buckwheat, macaroni, sugar, poultry, fish, sausages, dairy products, eggs, butter and vegetable oil, oranges, bananas, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, sweet peppers, onions, garlic and potatoes increased during this period.

Among the non-food items, the prices on clothes, fabrics and spare parts for cars, household appliances, stationery increased last month. The prices on building materials, medicine, jewelry, furniture and household items decreased.

The inflation hit 3.7 percent in January-October 2015 compared to the same period of 2014.

The food prices increased by 5.9 percent, non-food items - 3.1 percent, tariffs for services - 1.1 percent in Azerbaijan in January-October 2015 compared to the same period of 2014.

In October, the base index of consumer prices, calculated except for the goods and services subject to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables) hit 104.2 percent compared to January-October 2014.

These prices are regulated by the state.

The industrial producer price index increased by 1.2 percent in Azerbaijan in October 2015 compared to September.

During this period, producer prices in the mining industry increased by 1.6 percent, while reduced by 0.8 percent in the manufacturing industry.

In October, the producer prices for crude oil extraction increased by 1.6 percent. The producer prices in the production of other products remained unchanged compared to September.

During this period, the prices reduced by 6.9 percent in the chemical industry, by 2.1 percent - production of construction materials, by 1.5 percent - oil products, by 0.7 percent - wood processing and production of wood items, 0.1 percent - the production of tobacco products.

The prices in the beverage production increased by 3.5 percent, food - by one percent, the production of rubber and plastic products - by 0.6 percent, furniture - by 0.2 percent in October.

No changes were revealed in the prices in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas, steam and water, waste management in October 2015.
