Prices and situation in consumer market in Azerbaijan (January-February 2018)

According to the State Statistics Committee, in January-February 2018, 6.8 billion manat accounted for the Azerbaijani consumer market, which is by 2.3 percent more than turnover in the same period of 2017.

The monthly consumer expenses are estimated at 346.6 manat per capita in January-February 2018 or by 20.8 manat more compared to the same period of 2017.

The retail trade turnover amounted to 5.3 billion manat in January-February 2018, which is by 2.5 percent more than in January-February 2017.

According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, food trade (2,691.3 million manat) increased by 1.8 percent in real terms in January-February 2018.

Some 2,623.6 million manat (3.2 percent of real growth) accounted for the retail sales of non-food items.

Paid services worth 1,274.2 million manat were rendered to the population in January-February 2018 or by 1.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2017.

Legal entities ensured 73.3 percent of this growth and rendered the services worth 933.8 million manat.

Every citizen of the country used paid services worth 130.2 manat per month in January-February 2018, which is by 4.6 manat more than in January-February 2017.

Transportation, public utilities and communication services prevail in the structure of paid services.

Prices

According to the State Statistics Committee, the prices on consumer goods and tariffs for services increased by 4.7 percent in January-February 2018 compared to January-February 2017.

The food prices increased by 5.8 percent, prices for non-food items - 4.7 percent, the price for paid services - 3.3 percent during the reporting period.

The food prices increased by 0.4 percent, non-food items - by 0.4 percent, paid services - 0.1 percent in Azerbaijan for the month.

The base index of consumer prices, calculated except for the goods and services subject to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables) increased by 3.9 percent in January-February 2018 compared to the same period of 2017.

The producer prices for industrial products decreased by 1 percent in Azerbaijan in February 2018 compared to February 2017.

During the reporting period, producer prices in the mining industry decreased by 2.2 percent, while in the manufacturing industry increased by 0.3 percent.

The producer prices for industrial products increased by 16.3 percent, while the producer prices in the mining industry - by 17.2 percent and manufacturing industry - 14.4 percent in January-February 2018 compared to January-February 2017.
