Information and communication services worth 279 million manats were rendered for Azerbaijan's population and organizations in January-February 2018, which is by 14 percent more than in January-February 2017.
Some 71.4 percent of the total volume of information and communication services accounted for the services rendered to the population.
Some 80.4 percent of revenues received through the communication sector accounted for the non-state enterprises during the reporting period.
Mobile communication market
Some 135.5 million manat were obtained from the mobile communication services in Azerbaijan in January-February 2018.
The revenues increased by almost 8 percent in the mobile communication sector in January-February 2018 compared to January-February 2017.
Moreover, 48.6 percent of revenues obtained from the entire telecommunications market accounted for the revenues of the mobile communication sector.
Android is the most popular operating system in Azerbaijan. As of March 1, 2018, it ranks first with a 51.1 percent share on the operating system market, which is by 20 percent more than in the same period of 2017.
Android's share increased by 5.5 percent on the Azerbaijani operating system market in January-February 2018.
A Microsoft Windows market share decreased by 7.4 percent in Azerbaijan in January-February 2018.
Microsoft ranks second on the operating system market with a 33.7 percent share.
A Windows share on the Azerbaijani operating system market reduced by 16 percent at the end of February 2018 compared to the same period of 2017.
iOS with a 7.85 percent share ranked third, followed by X operating system - 2.34 percent, less known operating systems- 2.33 percent, Series 40 operating system - 0.89 percent. iOS market share increased by 6.8 percent in January-February 2018, while decreased by 24.4 percent compared to the same period of 2017.
PC market
The sales of portable computers (laptops, netbooks) increased by 5.7 percent in Azerbaijan in January-February 2018, Global Stats statistical center said.
At the end of February, 59 percent accounted for the market share of laptops in Azerbaijan. This segment of the market increased by 11.3 percent in January-February 2018 compared to the same period of 2017.
According to the center, a 7.6 percent decrease in desktop computer sales was observed in the country in January-February 2018.
Thus, 2.48 percent accounted for the market share of tablet computers. This segment of the market decreased by 0.8 percent in January-February 2018 and by 34.2 percent compared to January-February 2017.
Social networks
Facebook users' activity in Azerbaijan decreased by 5.4 percent in January-February 2018, according to Global Stats center.
As of March 1, 2018, Facebook's share in the Azerbaijani social media market amounted to 34.8 percent, which is by 58.3 percent less than as of March 1, 2017. By popularity Facebook ranks first in the Azerbaijani social media market.
By popularity YouTube ranks second. Youtube users' activity decreased by 3.2 percent in January-February 2018. As of March 1, 2018, YouTube's market share was 33.3 percent, which is by 60 times more than as of March 1, 2017.
By popularity Instagram ranks third with a market share of 13.7 percent as of March 1, 2018 compared to 1.4 percent in the same period of 2017.
Instagram users' activity increased by over 2.5 times in January-February 2018.
Twitter with a market share of 7.37 percent ranks fourth, followed by Pinterest - 6.67 percent, V Kontakte social network - 2.1 percent, Tumblr - 0.69 percent and others.
Internet
The volume of Internet traffic used through the network of Azerbaijan's telecommunications service provider - Delta Telecom - has decreased by 15.8 percent as of March 7, 2018, totaling 160 gigabits as compared to the figure in February.
The dynamics of the network congestion varies depending on the time of day, and the greatest congestion accounts for evenings (21:00 -23:00, GMT+4) - 160 gigabits. This figure reduces to 2 gigabits in the morning.
The volume of outgoing traffic depending on the time of day varies from 0.5 to 25 gigabit.
Delta Telecom's traffic is shared by 25 telecommunications operators (public and private Internet providers, cellphone operators and others).
As of March 7, the biggest volume of Internet traffic delivered to the end user accounted for Internet provider - Bakinternet (29.35 percent), Aztelekom (13.22 percent), Castel (11.35 percent).
The remaining 46.08 percent is distributed among AGTelecom, Azintex, QlobalNet, Ultel, AlfaNet, AzNet, Caspel, MegaTelecom, Avirtel, Nakhchivan, Azercell, AzStarNet, Connect, Data Processing Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan, Azerin, AZUninet, DATAPlus, SmartSystems, Azeronline, Bakcell, Eurocel and TransEuroCom.
