Community incomes

As a result of January to September 2006 net incomes of Azerbaijani population made up 7416.2m manats, or 21.2% (1.1bn manats) more than 9 months of 2005. Per capita incomes comprised 888 manats with a rise of 19.8%. Average per capital income was 98.7 manats a month.

Increase in community incomes was result of rise of average monthly salaries of employees of some state bodies in Azerbaijan in January and August.

In January to September of 2006 the community expenses were distributed in the following way: 70.3% on, purchase of goods and services, 11.7% - obligatory payment and fees, 18% - purchase of foreign currency and increase of savings.

Real community incomes after the payment of taxes and membership fees, made up 6549.3m manats, or 21.7% more than last year. Real per capita community income made up 784.2 manats with rise of 20.3%.

Thus, in the fist 9 months of 2006 the community expenses comprised 6078.9mln manats, or 17.8% up than expenses in January to September of 2005 (4991.8mln manats). The community incomes exceeded expenses by 1337.3m manats, which implies for accumulation of funds

Thus, the amount of average monthly salary in Azerbaijan as a result of January to September 2006 comprised 138.5 manats, or 19.9% more than 2005. Despite of increase in salaries of several categories of employees financed out of the public budget in the country, there is still a difference in this indicator throughout the country. The highest salary rate was fixed in extractive industry, as well as financial, leasing and commerce, construction sectors.

In January to August (the data are provided with a month-delay) the social payments paid at the job places made up 4.8 manats. Major part of benefits fell on employees of electricity gas and water supply, transport, store economy, communications and education.

Labor market

As to situation in the labor market in Azerbaijan in January to September 2006, a season of labor fairs continued.

The Employment Department of the Ministry said that in this period the Ministry has held 53 labor fairs in different regions of the country, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. A total of 1,857 enterprises with 18,671 jobs participated in the labor fairs and 4,508 people have been employed.

Over 9 months of 2006 a total of 134,800 new jobs have opened in Azerbaijan, including 75,000 permanent jobs. According to specialists observation held since 2003 every quarter 30,000-40,000 new jobs open in the country every quarter, including 51-52% permanent jobs.

In accordance with official statistics, as of 1 October 2006 a total of 3888,400 economically active people were employed in the Azerbaijan, or 46.4% of all population.

As of 1 August 2006 a total of 54,728 people were registered at the employment services, whereas as of 1 September they have numbered 54,987 people, while on 1 August it was 55,295 and on1 June 55,557. It reveals a cut by 259 people, 047%. The similar tendency has been observed since April, when the number of officially unemployed reduced 1649.

Average unemployed benefit comprises 53.5 manats, which is 36.3 of average monthly salary of employees. 51.3% of all those receiving unemployed benefits were women. 4 people claimed at 1 vacancy.
