Some 667 lari ($1= 1.66 lari) per month is to be allocated for housing costs to members of parliament in Kutaisi. The decision was made by the Council of Treasurers.
The decision was discussed the previous day at a closed meeting of the Parliamentary Bureau.
According to chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee David Onoprishvili, 667 lari is the total amount allocated to pay for the apartment which will be taxed and leaving an actual total of 533 lari.
Money for housing costs will be paid to those MPs who do not have an apartment or a house in Kutaisi. All others will have to submit an application to the Parliament Speaker who in turn will pass them to the committee on procedural matters. The committee will then consider the validity of the request and the property declaration of MP within seven days.
Expiration of the deputy's term or purchase of an apartment in Kutaisi will be the reason for the cessation of payments for housing costs..
