Georgia’s international reserves in February 2022 amounted to $3.9 billion, which is a decrease of 4.1 percent, compared to to the same period of 2021 ($4.07 billion), Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
The same figure also decreased by 2.1 percent, compared to January 2022 ($4.078 billion), the report said.
The NBG’s reserves in special borrowing funds (SDRs) increased by 128.5 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($211.1 million), and totaled $482.4 million, while the IMF’s reserve position did not change and amounted to $30,000. The NBG does not store funds in gold.
The international reserves converted into foreign currency are the main part of the reserves of the NBG, which total $3.5 billion.
The securities of the total reserves amount to $2.5 billion, while the currency in accounts of foreign banks and the IMF's reserves total $1 billion.
