(www.civil.ge) - Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Merab Antadze held talks with Foreign Minister of breakaway Abkhazia Sergey Shamba in Sokhumi on September 9, the Georgian State Ministers Office reported.

The two sides discussed the prospects of holding meetings within the frames of the Georgian-Abkhaz Coordinating Council, reports Trend.

A session of the Georgian-Abkhaz Coordinating Council scheduled for August 2 was thwarted after the Abkhaz side refused to participate in the talks. The Abkhaz side accused Tbilisi of changing their list of negotiators, while the Georgian side denied the accusations, saying that problems with the composition of the delegation was just a pretext for refusal.

According to the Georgian State Ministers Office, the Georgian side reiterated its readiness to continue peaceful dialogue with the Abkhaz side during the talks, calling on the Abkhaz side not to yield to any Russian provocations that aim to escalate tensions and destabilize the situation in the region.
