( Gulfnews ) More than two million visas were issued for people performing the Umrah in the past seven months, said a report released yesterday by the Makkah -based Hajj Central Committee (HCC).
"From February 19 to September 15, the number of visas that have been issued for Umrah pilgrims has reached 2 ,764,672 ," the report noted.
The report explained that the number of flights carrying pilgrims performing Umrah and arriving at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah reached 4,375 during the same period, while the number of departing flights reached 4,953.
Meanwhile, about two million visitors arrived in Madinah during the same period, the report pointed out. "During the past two weeks alone, 913,270 Umrah and visit visas have been issued by Saudi embassies abroad," the report said.
