Thailand's Appeals Court has upheld a defamation conviction and two-year jail sentence against former Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej, reported AP.
Thursday's ruling was the second crucial court battle lost by Samak this month. He can appeal to the Supreme Court.
The appeals court upheld a lower court's ruling that Samak had defamed a former deputy mayor of Bangkok during a television talk show in January 2006.
Samak was kicked out of office Sept. 9 for a separate run-in with the law that also stemmed from television appearances.
The Constitutional Court ruled that Samak had violated confict-of-interest laws by accepting pay for hosting TV cooking shows while serving as prime minister.
