Male debtors beware: Russian bailiffs are hiring attractive females to lure debtors into their hands, a Russian newspaper said Wednesday, DPA reported.
The bailiffs had previously posted photographs of fetching women on internet sites advertising a romantic rendezvous with the goal of attracting male debtors.
This, however, caused an uproar when some of the women sued, charging that their photographs had been used without their permission and their personal rights had been violated.
The bailiffs therefore decided to hire alluring women to help them snatch male debtors. According to a report in the government newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the method has proven successful and is to be officially sanctioned.
When the debtors meet the women for a romantic evening, the trap is sprung. Their cars or hunting licenses are confiscated and not returned until they pay their debts.
Due to the financial crisis, the number of Russians who are in the red has increased. The bailiffs are using other means as well, such as tips from garages, who are required by law to provide authorities with information on their customers.
