Two Pakistani senior police officers accused of negligence in the killing of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto were arrested on Wednesday by an anti- terrorism court, Xinhua reported.
Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in December 2007 in a gun and suicide attack in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, near capital Islamabad.
Saud Aziz, the former Rawalpindi police chief, and Khurram Shahzad, one of his deputies, were accused of failure to make proper arrangements for Benazir Bhutto and then ordered the crime scene to be prematurely hosed down.
The court revoked their bail and ordered their arrest.
"The court rejected their bail and the police took them into custody," Chaudhry Zulfikar, prosecutor of the Federal Investigation Agency told reporters after the court's proceedings.
A United Nations report released in April said the killing could have been prevented.
The UN report also criticised the Pakistani police's decision to hose down the crime scene, and said its failure to collect and preserve evidence "inflicted irreparable damage to the investigation".
