EU's foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton arrived in Istanbul on Thursday to meet Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu ahead of nuclear talks between world powers and Iran, Anadolu Agency reported.

The five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council --Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States-- plus Germany will meet Iranian officials in Istanbul later this month.

Ashton and Davutoglu will meet as part of preparations for nuclear talks, Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The meeting between Davutoglu and Ashton will also discuss relations between Turkey and EU, as well as regional and international issues, the statement added.
