Serbia invites Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to invest in infrastructure projects, projects in energy, transport, construction and tourism fields in the country.
This was stated by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic during a speech at the Azerbaijani-Serbian business meeting in Baku on Saturday.
"Signing of an agreement on economic and technological cooperation last year allowed to invest in infrastructure, tourism and information technologies. The project on construction of a road in Serbia by Azerbaijani company was the first one. This will encourage investments in the future," Nikolic said.
He said Serbia is a big construction platform. The advantages of investing in Serbia are highly educated and highly skilled workforce, beneficial geographical location, stimulating fiscal policy and stable legislative base.
At the business forum the Serbian side presented three specific projects in the areas of tourism (investments in the amount of 90-100 million euros in return within four to five years), energy (coal mine development and reconstruction of power plants require 100 and 400 million euros, respectively, in return within 5.5 years), transport (CARGO-center development in the free zone.)
As Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev said, these projects are interesting for Azerbaijani investors.
"The high level of political relations creates a favorable platform for development of economic relations," Mustafayev said.
He said the business forum is attended by over 50 large Azerbaijani companies representing areas of agriculture, tourism, food industry, banking and construction.
