Iran finalizes second space program, plans to launch 2 satellites

Iran has finalized a draft of its second 10-year space program and expects it to be passed soon, Minister of ICT Mahmoud Vaezi said.

The minister also announced near-future space plans of the country, including the launch of two satellites, IRIB news agency reported February 21.

The Dousti and Nahid-1 satellites are ready to be launched, he said, adding a to-be satellite under the name Pars-1 will be built via a joint venture.

He did not mention the name of the other country to work on the project.

“We also hope to launch our first sensing satellite in five years and our first telecommunication satellite in 10 years,” Vaezi said.
