A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranian parliament (Majlis) said that the assembly trusts in the country's nuclear negotiating team.

Abbas Ali Mansouri told Trend Agency on Nov. 26 that Iran is determined to reach a nuclear agreement with the P5+1.

"We believe that if the negotiating team decided to extend the talks, then it was necessary," he said, adding that the negotiating team defends Iranian nation's nuclear rights.

"If the other side shows seriousness, Iran and the P5+1 can reach a comprehensive agreement before the new deadline," Mansouri said.

He went on to note that the sanctions imposed on Iran are cruel and inhumane.

"Iran wants the sanctions to be lifted and any comprehensive deal without that is impossible," he noted.

"Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Therefore, we enjoy all the rights that the other members have," he said, adding that the country will not give up its rights.

"As the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei previously said, the pursuit and possession of nuclear weapons is a grave sin from religious standpoint. So the country will never pursuit nuclear weapons," the MP explained.

Iran and the P5+1 group agreed to extend nuclear talks until July 1, 2015 after failing to meet the 24 Nov. deadline to reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement. The sides also extended the Geneva nuclear deal, which was signed last November for providing Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities.
