Azerbaijani opposition party calls on Musavat Party to show determination on unification

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 13 /Trend, T.Hajiyev/

The leadership of the Musavat Party should not hesitate in making a decision, which public expects from it, the Azerbaijani opposition Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) believes, PFPA deputy chairman Fuad Gahramanli told Trend on Monday.

"PFPA has made a decision on unification. All depend on the steps the Musavat Party will take. "When the PFPA Congress made this decision, Musavat leader also said that it is correct. PPFA's position on the question of unification has already been defined," said Gahramanli.

Musavat head Isa Gambar proposed to unite Musavat and PFPA on July 15. The PFPA decided to join Musavat at a congress on Sept. 25.

Earlier the ex-chairman of the Musavat Party's Assembly Sulheddin Akbar said the head and leadership of the party opposed against unification.

"From the recent processes in the Musavat Party, especially in connection with an interview by Sulheddin Akbar and Ibrahim Ibrahimli, it becomes clear that the party, unfortunately, has no clear position on this issue. Naturally, this case is contrary to the interests of the Azerbaijani society and will of the democratic opposition in the country. This fact causes some concern in the society," said Gahramanli.

According to him, PPFA has repeatedly declared its unconditional willingness to unite and conduct fight as a unified force. Now PPFA expects steps to be taken by the Musavat Party.
