Azerbaijan's victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 has become a wonderful holiday for the Azerbaijanis and entire Turkic world, Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva told Trend on Sunday.

"This victory was celebrated not only in Azerbaijan, but also by the Azerbaijanis in Iran, Georgia and throughout the world," she added.

She believes that the victory at the contest has become an important event for Azerbaijan.

"We congratulate Eldar and Nigar and the whole team working with them. It was Azerbaijan's success in their person".

Pashayeva underscored that this victory is the result of Azerbaijan's growing image in the world.

"This is a great event for the country, when about 800 million viewers all over the world watched Azerbaijan's success," she said.

Pashayeva expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will organize the Eurovision Song Contest at the highest level in 2012.

"This is a great victory, as Azerbaijan has participated in this contest only for the fourth time. There are countries that take part at the contest for years but cannot succeed. The whole people were very happy, and almost didn't sleep till morning," she said. "It is an important event for all of us that our flag waved on the stage".

Pashayeva hopes that such a victory march will also be made after the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani territories and the Azerbaijanis will celebrate such victories in Nagorno-Karabakh. "I believe that this day is near," she stressed.

Pashayeva also underscored that it is not just a song contest, and there is also a political aspect here. "Therefore, it is a great event that we could win. Thus, Europe agreed with the fact that Azerbaijan deserves this victory and it is an objective victory," she added.
Pashayeva believes that it is the result of the policy of the country's leadership that Azerbaijan becomes more recognizable in the world in the sphere of culture and music.
