Azerbaijani rowers took up the struggle at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Eton, Great Britain.

On Thursday, Boris Yotov on one-seater boat (JM1 X) and duo Gardashkhan Huseynli - Kamal Khanlarov on two-seater boat (JM2 X) took part in the qualifying round for 2,000 meters, Azerbaijani National Rowing Federation told Trend.

Yotov reached the finish in 8 minutes 4.53 seconds, thus dropping by 2.25 second behind the Greek rower Alexandros Daphnis. Yotov left behind the Argentinean Axel Gaak (8:05.49), the Estonian Yuri-Mikk Udam (8:18.06) and the French Bon Marina Mulon (8:23.66). Thus, Azerbaijani16-year old rower will struggle in ¼ finals.

Duo Huseynli - Khanlarov reached the finish in 7 minutes 42.95 seconds. Thus, they are behind the Swiss, Hungarian (7:05.80), Polish (7:06.19) and Belgian (7:16.75) duos. The Azerbaijani duo could leave behind only Georgian athletes, who reached the finish in 8 minutes 01.64 seconds. Duo Huseynli - Khanlarov will continue struggling in the consolation round.

The World Championships will end on Aug. 7.
