Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili attended an official dinner in Strasbourg given on behalf of the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk due to completion of the country's presidency in the European Parliament.

The dinner was also attended by European Parliament's President Jerzy Buzek.
According to the Catholic custom, the guests at a Christmas dinner shared special bread with each other and made a wish.

As Georgian Presidential Administration said, Saakashvili made a speech at the dinner and stressed the importance of the European Parliament's resolution on Georgia and start of negotiations with the European Union on a comprehensive free trade.

"Several years ago I could not imagine that Georgia will one day become a member of the European Union. Donald Tusk made it possible. This topic was the main music in many capitals of Europe, and I think that the composer of this music was Donald Tusk. After him this music began to sound throughout Europe," Saakashvili said.

He stressed that Georgia and Poland have come a long way before they were "let to the European Union". "Now, Poland is the President of the European Parliament. And Georgia gets a chance to become an EU member, and it should do it," Saakashvili said.
