Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.10 / Trend corr N. Ismayilova / In December 2008, the deposit base of Azerbaijani banks upped by 7.4 percent or by 36.6 percent in entire 2008, a source in the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA) said on Feb.10.
According to the source, as of Jan.1, a total volume of bank deposits, as well as deposits of juridical and physical figures made up 4348.6 million manats compared to 4050.1 million manats in Dec.1 and 3,183.7 million manats on Jan.1, 2008. As many as 1,935.3 million of the volume was in manats and the rest (2,413.3 million) was in a foreign currency. As of December, deposits in the national currency increased by 4.9 percent and foreign currency by 9.4 percent.
In December, deposits of physical figures upped by 5.3 percent and juridical figures by 9 percent. During 2008, individual client deposits increased by 29.6 percent and corporative clients by 42.5 percent.
In early 2009, deposits of physical figures in banks of the country hit 1,903.7 million manats compared to 1808.1 million manats on Dec.1 and 1468.4 million manats on Jan.1, 2008.
Deposits of juridical figures made up 2,444.9 million manats compared to 2,242 million manats on Dec.1 and 1715.3 million manats on Jan.1, 2008.
On Jan.1, 2009, as many as 1,035.6 million manats of deposits of physical figures were realized in national currency and 868.1 million manats in hard currency. As many as 898.7 million manats of deposits of juridical figures were realized with national currency and 1546.2 million manats in hard currency.
The official currency rate of $1 is 0.8077 manats on Feb.10.
