Users in Azerbaijan will be able to register .az domains in the electronic form, Deputy Communications and IT Minister Elmir Valizadeh said on Thursday.
According to Valizadeh, approaches to managing of the administration of domain in different countries differ from each other.
"We have not introduced the system of online-registration of the domain yet. It is for obvious reasons. For example, the domain is not granted to foreigners or representation of foreign companies offices on the territory of Azerbaijan," he said.
As for the cost of a domain, then, according to Deputy Minister, there is a concept of economic efficiency.
"Any project must be economically viable, even if it does not take into account the question of its profitability. Costs should be covered. If it is a social project, it should have external funding. Due to the fact that it is a business project, it must be economically
viable," Valizadeh said.
The deputy minister cite of the electronic digital signature (EDS) with a three-year period of use (30 manat) for the citizens as example.

Cost of both EDS and domain are less than one manat per month. The user receives the security, reliability and quality of service "- the deputy minister said.
According to Valizadeh electronic signature has no narrow purpose. It covers a wide range of services - it is possible to apply to state agencies, to use banking services and other. Department considered the possibility of issuing a digital signature in the short term, but, this option is not advisable so far, Valizadeh added.
The deputy minister also cited the example of the cost of Internet services, which in his opinion, can not decrease forever.
Valizadeh noted that there are certain costs that, in any event must be covered, regardless of the number of users.
