BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. Azerbaijan's non-oil exports for the first 11 months of 2023 climbed by 10.5 percent compared to the same period the previous year, reaching $3 billion, Vugar Bayramov, MP, wrote on Social media account, Trend reports.
Russia contributed for 33.1 percent of non-energy exports, followed by Türkiye (24 pecent), Georgia (9.9 percent), Switzerland (5.1 percent), Kazakhstan (3 percent), Turkmenistan (2.5 percent), Ukraine (2.4 percent), and the United Arab Emirates (2 percent).
He underlined that various non-oil items were exported more frequently during this time period.
Exports of fruits increased by 22 percent, vegetables by 4.2 percent, fruit and vegetable juices by 38.7 percent, fruit and vegetable preserves by 23 percent, natural grape wines and grape must by 13.7 percent, margarine and other food mixtures by 40.3 percent, polypropylene by 73.6 percent, polyethylene by 32.6 percent, cement clinker by 17.6 percent, cotton yarn by 35.6 percent, and bentonite clay by 2.6 percent.
At the same time, a decrease in exports of some goods was recorded. Export of potatoes decreased by 9 percent, sugar - 30.5 percent, vegetable oils - 28.7 percent, tea - 62.2 percent, tobacco - 63.4 percent, cotton fiber - 9.1 percent, unprocessed aluminum - 19.6 percent, mineral fertilizers - 9.6 percent, ferrous metal bars - 18.6 percent, ferrous metal pipes - 15.1 percent, semi-finished ferrous metal products - by 57.9 percent over the same period.
As can be seen, a sharper decline was recorded in exports of tea and tobacco. The decrease in exports of these products exceeds 60 percent.
"Among the economic priorities are increased non-oil exports and diversification of the export structure. As a result, the key economic aims for 2024 are diversifying the economy and reducing reliance on oil," Bayramov said.
