The voting in Azerbaijan's parliamentary election started on time and the election process was transparent, Habib Kaabachi, head of the observation mission from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) told reporters Nov.2.

He congratulated the Azerbaijani people over completing the parliamentary election.

The observer noted that the election was held in full compliance with international standards.

"We believe that this parliamentary election will make a significant contribution to the democratic development in Azerbaijan," Kaabachi added.

Azerbaijan held its parliamentary election Nov. 1. As many as 767 candidates ran for 125 seats in the country's parliament. The election was monitored by 503 international observers from 40 organizations and over 66,000 local observers.

Following the election, many foreign observers, analysts and experts pointed out the transparency, openness and smooth voting process at the election, as well as high voter turnout.
