Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyevga / The Deputy Internal Minister of Azerbaijan has shown concern with the functioning of the Abu Bakr Mosque in Baku.
The Deputy Internal Minister Vilayat Eyvzov stated in an interview with journalists that the function of the Abu Bakr Mosque is not transparent. According to Eyvazov, the law enforcement personnel have no direct control over local religious places of prayer.
Vahabists generally pray in the Mosque and recent the activity of Vahabists has caused anxiety in the country. Law enforcement personnel have therefore reinforced its struggle against such radical religious groups. The Mosque head should take interest in this issue and must attempt to prevent groups acting under name of religion.
The Azerbaijan law enforcement personnel have undertaken measures to prevent religious extremist groups within the country.
