Azerbaijan to Hold Training for Police Officers before Presidential Elections – Deputy Minister
Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 February / Trend corr E. Huseynli / The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry will provide training sessions amongst the police officers. They will be taught how to perform during the presidential elections.
"In order to prevent clashes and to prevent police officers from making mistakes during mass events, the Ministry has, jointly with the OSCE and the Council of Europe will hold training and workshops for police officers," the Deputy Interior Ministry Lieutenant-General Askar Alakbarov said to journalists on 18 February.
According to Alakbarov, in order to improve the professionalism in the police establishments, staff changes are also being made. New establishments are being founded at the Interior Ministry in order to secure democratic values. Should it be necessary, more new establishments will be set up at the Interior Ministry in the future.
The Presidential elections will take place in Azerbaijan in October 2008.
