Opposition Structure Specifies Area to Stage Rally

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 April / Trend corr. D.Babayeva / The Democratic Election Centre (DEC) took a decision to stage a rally, initially scheduled for 12 May, in one of the five central squares in Baku, Teyyub Gani, DEC Chairman stated Trend .

On 30 Jan, nine opposition parties - Classical Popular Front of Azerbaijan, Azadlig, National-Democratic, Great Establishment, Popular Front of Unified Azerbaijan, Great Azerbaijan, Open Society, Takammul and Green parties took a decision to found the Democratic Elections Centre.

DEC is planning to stage a rally in the centre of Baku on the day when ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan was signed in Bishkek-12 May.

According to Gani, DEC has proposed the following squares - National Seaside park, area in front of the theatre named N.Narimanov, Fuzuli square, Academy Science garden and J.Jabbarli square.

"DEC will appeal to the Executive Power of Baku," Chairman of the party stated.

The Open Society and Green parties, united in DEC, will not participate in the rally.
