Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 July/ Trend , corr J. Babayeva/ Te Union of the Azerbaijani Intellectuals may keep on functioning without headquarters because of the lack of financial resources, Eldaniz Guluyev, chairman of the Union of the Azerbaijani Intellectuals said to Trend .
According to Guluyev, the union could pay a rent with the help of membership fees. "If we don not receive financial support from our associates, we will have to leave our headquarters," Guluyev said.
The Union of the Azerbaijani Intellectuals which has functioned independently so far, has not appealed anyone for a financial support. It turn out that the Azerbaijani society does not need the conception and program of Intellectuals, he said.
According to Guluyev, the lack of headquarters affects the activities of the Union and if the Union will not have headquarters, it will appeal the State Committee on Property Management.
The Union of the Azerbaijani Intellectuals has introduced the project on conception of culture to the grant competition by the State NGO Assistance Council attached to President, he said.
The Union of the Azerbaijani Intellectuals was founded in 2003 and was officially registered by the Ministry of Justice. The Union aims at protecting rights of the Azerbaijani intellectuals and reaching consensus between government and opposition.
