Georgians, Who Become Refugees in South Ossetian Conflict, Settled in Georgian Azerbaijanis Families

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 August / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / Some Georgians and other national representatives, who became refugees in the South Ossetin conflict, have settled in Georgian Azerbaijanis families, mostly residing in Sadakhli zone. This was told Trend by Novruz Bayramov, Rector of Marneuli based branch of the Tbilisi State University named Ilya Chavchavadze.

On 8 August, Georgia launched military operations in South Ossetia to restore its territorial integrity. Russia attacked on Georgia. Georgia faced serious lost as a result of Russian attack.

Russian Air Forces bombed Georgian cities Marneuli and Bolnisi, as well as Marneuli based airport.

On 12 August, a ceasefire agreement was reached between Russia and Georgia through mediation of international organizations.

According to Bayramov, the refugees and wound, who settled in Georgian Azerbaijanis families, are treated. "Georgians and representatives of other nations, who were settled in families, are mainly from Gori region.

The meeting of Georgian Azerbaijanis intellectuals was held in the Mirza Fatali Akhundov Museum in Tbilisi on 14 August. "The current state of Georgian Azerbaijanis, as well as the refugees was touched upon at the meeting," Bayramov said.

Bayramov said that Georgian Azerbaijanis are loyal to their motherland and will never leave their country. "Georgian Azerbaijanis are ready to render any assistance to secure the territorial integrity and restore stability in the country," Bayramov said.
