France, Strasburg, 29 September / Trend corr. I.Alizade, A.Maharramli / Georgia demands to freeze mandate of the Russian delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). "Twenty MPs of other countries made such an initiative and if the issue is put under discussions, the Georgian delegations will vote for its acceptance," Georgi Gabashvili, the head of the Georgian delegation at the PACE, told journalists in Strasburg on 29 September.
Georgia is satisfied with the memorandum develop by reporter Luke van Derbrande, he said. "Naturally, the document especially contains positive items for us. The document contains some data and recommendations, which will be discussed on 29 September and 2 October. We support international and unbiased assessments of the August developments."
There are some issues, which do not need discussions, the head of the delegation said. Russian violated all obligations, which were undertaken while joining the Council of Europe, including the issue that it will respect territorial integrities of all countries, Gabashvili said.
"At present Russia attacked territorial integrity of Georgia and recognized independencies of the regions, which belong to Georgia. Such issues, surely, cannot be a subject of discussions," he said.
The PACE should urge Russia to fulfill its obligations on the base of the organization's principles, he said. "We expect the PACE to adopt adequate Resolution and recommendations concerning Russia." The head of the delegation said that the CE would send fact-finding mission to Georgia and the mission will function on 1 October. "We hope that the CE will place neutral and unbiased peacemaking forces in the region at the next stage. Our main task is to settle the conflict through peacemaking forces."
