Georgia, US Sign Agreement on Demining

Georgia, Tbilisi, 10 October / corr Trend N. Kirtzkhalia / A memorandum on mutual understanding was signed between the Georgian Ministry of Defense and US-based organization of Program of information management and demining. A ceremony of signing of an agreement on Assistance in demining was held in the Georgian Ministry of Defense.

It is the third agreement, which was signed between Georgia and organizations of partner-countries after the events of August, the Defense Ministry said. Two agreements envisage study of situation, as well as awareness of population of assistance in cleansing from mines and unexploded ammunition.

The organization will assist in formation of office on demining and coordination in the Georgian Ministry of Defense within the frames of memorandum during a year.

The memorandum was signed by Kartlos Koranashvili, Georgian deputy head of international relations and European integration department of the Defense Ministry and David Armit, director of the US organization.
