Russia, Dagestan, Dec. 16 / corr. Trend R. Elmurzayeva / Distribution of water resources of the Samur River, which mainly flows to Azerbaijan, was raised in a meeting between Victor Basargin, minister of regional development of Dagestan, Russia, and residents of Magaramkent region.
"Our task is to make a qualified, well-done analysis to see how it operates in the area," Basargin said. Compromise is possible both in terms of water fencing and solution of property issues, he said.
"Residents expressed their expectations on solution of this issue, which will be certainly solved in the interests of those who use land and water here," Basargin said.
Neighbors also need water and it is necessary to find compromise in the settlement of this issue, Mukhu Aliyev, Dagestan President, said. It is necessary to proceed from 50 to 50 proportions in water use. "We consider that this is great concession from our side, necessitated by care of our neighbors," Aliyev said. The issue will be thoroughly studied and compromise will be found to enable us to keep normal neighborly relations between our two countries and to make just solution, he said.
