Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 23 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia /On Dec. 22, 56 OSCE participating States failed to reach consensus on prolongation of the mission mandate due to Russia's non-constructive and severe position.
Thus Russia continues its goal-directed policy, which serves weakening of the OSCE's role both in Georgia and on entire space of the organization participating states for safety and collaboration in Europe. This solution of Russia must be examined in the context of attempt to discredit the activity of the representation of OSCE mission and observers of European Union and realized physical attacks to representatives of these missions", is stated in the document. Georgian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Russia rejected proposal about the technical prolongation of the mandate of mission for several months, which would afford the possibility to OSCE countries to agree on acceptable for all decision with respect to further activity of mission. Thus the Russian Federation forewent the consideration of issues, connected with further activity OSCE in Georgia in the plane of regulating the existing conflicts, the Georgian Ministry assumes.
Georgian Ministry expresses the deep regret due to turning out of such a state and emphasizes that OSCE still much remained to make in the region. Besides the process of regulating conflicts, organization actively participates in the activity of different sectors of the Georgian society.
The Ministry expresses the appreciation to Finland, which is presiding in OSCE and other countries for the efforts, directed toward reaching of progress in negotiations regarding the mandate, and also for the systematic support of those locating in the South Caucasus and OSCE other representatives.
It becomes explicit, that the Russian Federation systematically and goal-directed undermines the work of the international organizations acting in Georgia. This explains by the fact that Moscow does not desire international transparency on those occupied territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Tbilisi calls on the international community to show joint reaction to the attempts of Russia to hinder the prolongation of mandate of international missions in Georgia.
