The Islamic Revolution is supported by freedom-loving people everywhere, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.
"The Islamic Revolution has a special place in the hearts of all freedom-loving people," he said in a speech on Azadi Square in Tehran. Iran is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the revolution.
The Iranian Revolution led to numerous achievements and national and Islamic liberties, the IRINN television channel quoted the president as saying. The Iranian people have moved ahead in the 30 years since the revolution and made progress in various sectors, he added.
"If before the revolution 50 percent of the population was literate, now the figure is 86 percent. If before the revolution there were 176,000 students, today we have 3 million," Ahmadinejad said.
He added that Iranian citizens used to go abroad to receive medical treatment, but now foreigners come to Iran.
