Turkmen president appoints mayor to Turkmenbashi city

Head of the National Tourist Zone Avaz Committee Oraz Atayev was appointed the mayor of the Turkmenbashi city under the order of Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdymuhamedov.   

A resort centre Avaz is being constructed nearby areas of the city. This territory was announced a free economic zone. The Turkmen authorities promise a reductive visa regime to foreigners. In the end of 1990s Turkmenistan left the CIS non visa regime agreement.

An airport building complex of international class with a new strip and handling capacity of 800 passengers per hour is being constructed in Turkmenbashi.

A special project is also developing to moderate the Turkmenbashi harbor. The project is based on the experience of the free economic zones in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Hong Kong.
