National Security Ministry neutralizes three gangs, engaged in drug trafficking from Iran to Azerbaijan

The National Security Ministry (NSM) of Azerbaijan has neutralized three gangs, engaged in drug trafficking from Iran to Azerbaijan and seized approximately 56 kilogram of drugs.

Residents of Astara region Parviz Aliyev, Ilham Samadov and Asaf Gasimov, residents of Barda district Asaf Asimov and Saleh Mammadov, as well as citizens of Iran and others, the personality of which has been investigated, have agreed to smuggle drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan, the NSM Center for Public Relations said to Trend .

The aforesaid persons agreed to smuggle drugs to Azerbaijan. They deliverd drugs to residents of Astara region Parviz Aliyev and Ilham Samadov. Later, Aliyev, Samadov and Asaf Gasimov hid drugs on the coast of Caspian Sea.

On the instruction of Aliyev, Samadov and Gasimov gave drugs to residents of the Kalasakhna village of Astara region Asaf Azimov and Saleh Mammadov. Azimov and Mammadov kept drugs in Mercedes mark automobile.

Later, Azimov and Mammadov hid drugs in the BMW-Х5 mark automobile, which they have parked in Astara region. 

NSM officials detained Azimov in BMW-Х5 and Mammadov in Mercedes automobiles in Lankaran region, while driving to Barda region.

Approximately 40 kilogram of hashish was found in BMW-Х5.

Residents of Astara region Agagul Abbasguliyev, Alim Hasanov and resident of Sumgait region Kamal Aliyev, who were engaged in drugs trafficking, were arrested as the result of operative measures. Approximately 4 kilogram of heroine was seized.

It was revealed that the abovementioned persons, as well as the Iranian citizens and others who are being identified via investigations smuggled drugs to Azerbaijan from Iran passing over the customs controls.

In accordance with the earlier reached agreement, Agagul Abbasguliyev instructed Alim Hasanov to receive these narcotics in the Palikesh village of the Astara region from the Iranian citizens who smuggled them to Azerbaijan and hid in forest.

Later Abbasguliyev instructed Hasanov to deliver narcotics to Sumgayit, for which Hasanov received $8,000.

Hasanov delivered narcotics via the sports bag to Baku and agreed with Kamal Aliyev on the meeting at the entrance to Sumgayit.

By following Aliyev's instructions, Hasanov arrived in Sumgayit on the taxi, where he met with Aliyev, and both were arrested by the National Security Ministry (NSM). During the search, they had found and seized approximately four kilograms of heroin, as well as $8,000, which Aliyev promised to Hasanov.

As a result the NSM's operation activities, residents of the Yardimli region Malik Bashirov and his brother Fakhraddin Bashirov, Zakulla Jafarov and Islam Akbarov who were engaged in narcotics smuggling were arrested. Over 12 kilograms of narcotics, including heroin, hashish and opium were withdrawn on them.

A lawsuit was filed on all three cases in accordance with the Article 206.3.2 (smuggling of narcotics by group of persons on preliminary agreement), 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 (illegal manufacturing, production, acquisition, storage, transport, transfer or sale of drugs, psychotropic substances or precursors to large-scale group of persons on primary agreement) of the Criminal Code.
