Expansion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will favor strengthening of the organization's authority, the Tajik president believes. The president offered to examine an issue on expansion of the SCO at the next summit, Vesti reported.
"The issue on expanding the SCO requires the deepened assessment of both positive and negative consequences of this step. I offer to discuss this issue at the next summit in order to reach solutions expected both the public and our partners by decade of the SCO," President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon said, when speaking at the ongoing SCO summit in Yekaterinburg.
"While supporting expansion of the SCO, we believe that along with cohesion and mutual support, this step will demonstrate increasing importance and influence of the SCO on the international stage," he said.
