Europe and the USA intend to continue establishing relations with Iran despite numerous accusations of official Iran of interference of western countries in its domestic affairs.
"European countries are disposed to preserve diplomatic relations with Iran. But activity of several forces inside Iran (organizations having political and military power) is directed to undermine relations with West," British expert of Iran's origin working in London, professor of Glasgow university Reza Tagizadeh told Trend over phone.
Broken relations between Iran and western countries will give Iran's authority Azerbaijan opportunity to justify all its actions and avoid further talks, Tagizadeh said.
Two weeks later Iran's government accused western countries, especially, Great Britain, in intended escalation in Iran, initialization of disorders and interference in domestic affairs of Iran after presidential elections of June 12. Opposition called results of elections faked-up.
Nine Iran's employees of British embassy, as well as several foreign citizens, including British citizens were arrested in Tehran. They were accused of participation in disorders. BBC reporter in Tehran was expelled from Iran.
Both sides have responsibility in coolness between West and Iran, Urosevic Research Foundation of London chairman Piruz Mujtahedzadeh said. Taking into account existing pretensions towards Iran, western countries and the USA hasten to indicate their position and express their opinion towards events in Iran. It gives cause for Iran's official representatives to accuse western countries of interference in domestic affairs of Iran. Despite it, preservation and improvement of relations between West and Iran are still possible.
"Unfortunately, during Iran's events official representatives of western countries, including Great Britain, Germany and France, hasten to state about their position towards events in Iran and take tough position. From other side, the Iran's foreign ministry played its role in creation of tension," Mujtahedzadeh told Trend over phone.
According to Mujtahedzadeh, western countries realizing own mistakes will try to improve relations. While Iran's foreign ministry changes own policy, it will improve relations between Europe and Iran.
According to the Center for Iranian Studies at Tel-Aviv University head David Menashri, Iran's official leadership undermined authority towards people and international community by last actions. It threaten future relations with West.
"Iran's people must think again as those who harmed Iran's image and threaten Iran greatly continue to expose people, As to reaction of western countires on situation in Iran, major issue concerns how elections will affect attempts of the U.S president Barack Obama to establish dialogue with Tehran. This is strike towards Obama's efforts to establish relations with Iran's authority," Menashri said.
Strong opposition disorders occurred in Tehran after announcing of results of presidential elections held On June 12. Iran's current president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won elections. According to Iran's central election committee, Ahmadinejad got 66 percent of votes. One of lost candidates - reformer Mir Hossein Mousavi accused authority of falsification of voting results and called people for actions of protest.
European countries and the USA condemned tough methods of suppression of Iran's meetings leading to death of people, as well as numerous arrests by accusing Iran's authority in undermining of fundamental basis of democracy. According to unofficial information, roughly 150 people died.
Menashri said that Washington will face self-confident interlocutor of Iran. He said that Obama's statement in Cairo and visit of president Shimon Peres to Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan demonstrated real goals and intentions of western countries towards Muslim world.
