Israeli-Azerbaijani close relations up export to Azerbaijan: Israeli new ambassador

Israel has more opportunities to cooperate and develop economic relations with Azerbaijan than with other countries, Israeli new ambassador to Azerbaijan, Michael Lavon-Lotem, said. Lavon-Lotem will arrive in Baku in mid. of August.

Israel has more opportunities to cooperate and develop economic relations with Azerbaijan than with other countries, Israeli new ambassador to Azerbaijan, Michael Lavon-Lotem, said. Lavon-Lotem will arrive in Baku in mid. of August.

"There is one nuance that can assist us to reach higher level of turnover. It is geographic nearness. Azerbaijan suffered as a result of economic crisis less than other countries. But closing of our countries resulted in increase of Israeli export to Azerbaijan," Lavon-Lotem said in his first interview with IzRus portal.    

Lavon-Lotem replaced ex-ambassador Arthur Lenk. Lavon-Lotem called improvement of relations between Israel and Azerbaijan, increase of turnover and strengthening of partner relations as his major goal. 

Before, diplomat worked as ambassador in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Diplomat considers Israeli interference in internal political situation on Caucasus, especially Azerbaijan and Iran, as inadmissible. 

"I fully realize Azerbaijani strategic significance having such neighbor as Iran. It is clear that Baku is unlikely to be interested in complicating relations with Tehran. So, I prefer not to voice any high-flown statements," Lavon-Lotem said.  

He said that Azerbaijan is strategic junction which can not be ignored.
