Azerbaijan renders harmless gang engaged in sale of fake diplomas: interior ministry

Azerbaijan has rendered harmless a criminal gang consisting of researchers and university professors involved in the sale of fake diplomas.
As a result of operational search activities, held by the officers of the Interior Ministry Central Department for Combating Organized Crime, arrested researcher of the Institute of Linguistics, National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NASA), candidate of philological sciences Elchin Ismayilov, associate professor of the Azerbaijan International University (AIA) Irada Imanova and Emil Shahbazov when trying to sell a fake diploma for 1,600 manats, the Ministry's Press Secretary, Ehsan Zahidov told Trend on Sept. 1.
He said the abovementioned people being in a criminal conspiracy were detained for an attempt to sell counterfeit diplomas of the National Aerospace Agency of Azerbaijan and the International Institute for Applied Space, which is one of Russia's state universities.
The investigation bureau of the Central Department for Combating Organized Crime is investigating this case and after it, it will be decided whether to file a suit on the members of the criminal gang.
