Azerbaijan, Baku, September 3 / Trend A. Akhundov /

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is likely to visit Georgia early next week in connection with the case of the Turkish captain of the BUKET tanker. The captain has been sentenced to 24 years imprisonment, Anadolu agency reports.

The Buket leaving Turkey heading for the unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia under Panama's flag with 2,000 tons of petrol and 700 tons of diesel was detained by Georgian marine boats on August 16.

A Georgian court sentenced the tanker's captain and Turkish citizen, Mehmet Ozturk, to 24 years imprisonment last Monday and the ship operating under Panama's flag passed to state property. Ozturk was accused of violating customs duties to a large degree and entering occupied territory.
